Elbow Beach is part of Mandarin Oriental’s portfolio of luxury establishments. It is named after the stretch of private, pristine shore on which it resides – a beach of pink sand. Set amongst 50 acres of landscaped gardens, the hotel is five minutes from the charming, downtown area of Hamilton, the island’s capital. A favourite with royalty and celebrities who appreciate the extra privacy afforded by this tropical hideaway, Elbow Beach has been delighting guests for over 100 years.
From December 2009 the hotel will no longer be selling the Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites in the main hotel building. It will be solely operating as an exclusive cottage colony complex, with their fully renovated Premier Rooms and Suites. The facilities of the previously larger hotel remain in place with a choice of several stylish restaurants and bars. In addition, there is a wealth of leisure amenities for all ages, from tennis and golf to kayaking and scuba diving.
The Spa at Elbow Beach is Bermuda’s ultimate experience. Stunning ocean views from individual balconies are the perfect backdrop to the Spa’s six private spa suites. Every one is decorated in soothing colours and organic textures, and features a hand-crafted, granite soaking tub, bamboo flooring and a river pebble-lined steam shower. It’s a haven of utter tranquillity in which to enjoy superb holistic treatments from the Spa’s team of highly trained therapists.
The Elbow Beach is home to 1/2 mile private pink sand beach. There is a free form swimming pool – with temperature control and a shallow area for children, and a Jacuzzi – located in the pool, the perfect place to be at sunrise or sunset. There are tennis courts – five to choose from, including 2 with flood lights for night time play. A historic shipwreck, just offshore is the perfect place for diving and snorkelling and the hotel has a fully equipped dive shop. Kayaks and paddle boats are also available – the perfect way to explore the shoreline at your own pace.
Other facilities include a state of the art fitness club, a putting green, cycle shop, jogging trail, beauty salon and plenty of hammocks – strung between the palm trees, for a nap in the cooling breeze.
Elbow Beach is a paradise for children. There are interesting and exciting activities every day, available for our youngest guests and the Kid’s Club is open from June to August.
At Elbow Beach, the cuisine comes with a real sense of heritage. As befits the first hotel to open on the island’s South Shore almost a century ago, they have been leading the way in fine dining ever since.
